Boulder, CO : 19-year-old Niwot man dies in motorcycle crash on Wednesday, 26th October 2016
A 19-year-old Niwot man died at Boulder Community Health's Foothills Hospital on Wednesday following a three-vehicle crash on Niwot Road earlier in the day.
Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis said that the man, whose name has not been released, was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Niwot Road near Quiet Retreat Court at about 3:45 p.m. when he skidded out and hit a stopped Honda sport utility vehicle.
Lewis said when the man was ejected from his motorcycle and then struck by a Toyota sport utility vehicle.
The drivers of the SUVs, both 54-year-old men, were not injured and remained on scene.
Niwot Road was closed in both directions to the east of Quiet Retreat Court as police investigated the crash scene. Skid marks could be seen on the road that an official at the scene said were caused by the motorcycle.
Lewis said drugs and alcohol are not being considered as factors in the crash, but the Boulder County Coroner's Office will make the final determination. Speed on the part of the motorcycle rider is being investigated.
He referred questions regarding the man's identity to the coroner's office, which couldn't be immediately reached for comment on Wednesday night.
