Ridley Township, PA : One person dead after a single-car crash on Interstate 476 in Delaware County on Thursday, February 19, 2015

One person is dead following a crash that slowed traffic on the northbound Blue Route (I-476) in Delaware County.

It happened at 7:40 a.m. Thursday on the on-ramp from McDade Boulevard in Ridley Township.

Police say a vehicle left the road and went up an embankment.

There was no immediate word what caused the driver to lose control.

That person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The on-ramp from McDade Boulevard to I-476 North was completely shut down as police investigated.

Traffic on the northbound Blue Route was backed up onto I-95 for more than an hour.
