DARTMOUTH, MA : Fall River man dies in Dartmouth crash on April, Monday 3rd 2017
The Dartmouth police say a 43-year-old Fall River man died in a crash Monday night.
The police identified the victim as Robert Heroux of Sherman Street, Fall River.
According to the police, a pickup truck driven by Heroux struck a utility pole and stone wall near 413 Cross Road. The pickup truck rolled onto its side and Heroux was partially ejected, the police said
Heroux was the only person in the truck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Susana Calheta, of 419 Cross Road, was sitting in her living room with her husband shortly after 9 p.m. when she heard a loud bang outside. Her husband thought it was a tractor trailer going over the manhole cover that’s right in front of their home as has happened. But Calheta said the sound seemed too be from more than a big truck.
“It was way too loud for that,” she said.
Calheta poked her head out the window to see an electrical pole was down in the middle of the road and the wires were exposed. When she walked outside she realized her neighbors from across the street were on the road with flashlights directing traffic around the downed pole. She ran back inside and called 911.
