A motorcyclist is dead after fatally crashing his bike near Lake Metigoshe on Saturday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Derek Thompson, 28, of Rolette was driving west on state Highway 43 when he failed to account for a curve on the road and went into the north ditch.
Thompson then struck a sign support post and flew off the motorcycle.
Thompson wasn't wearing a helmet and died from the injuries.
The crash is still under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
