Roseville, MN : Truck burst into flames after a collision on northbound Interstate 35W and eastbound Minnesota 36 shortly on Friday morning July 25th 2014
A truck burst into flames after a three-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 35W shortly at 6:30 a.m. Friday, halting traffic along a busy rush hour corridor.
Northbound I-35W is expected to remain closed along eastbound Minnesota 36 for several more hours, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Traffic is being routed to Industrial Boulevard.
Southbound I-35W is open.
A semi truck, a box truck and a Metro Mobility van were involved in the crash along eastbound Minnesota 36 in the area of the left bend toward northbound I-35W. At least one person was injured in the Metro Mobility van, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
It was not immediately known if there were additional injuries.
At least one truck caught on fire. MnDOT cameras showed plumes of black smoke rising in the air shortly after 6:30 a.m. -- the flames were subdued around 7 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
Road conditions were wet at the time of the incident -- thunderstorms rolled through the metro area Friday morning, dropping brief but heavy rain in some areas, the National Weather Service said.
Westbound Minnesota 36 traffic was also at a standstill as emergency crews worked to clear the scene, according to MnDOT.
