A 63-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday morning in the town of Lake Holcombe in the northeast corner of Chippewa County. Both were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries.
The crash occurred at 11:21 a.m. on Highway 27, near 305th Ave., according to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department.
Preliminary reports indicate that the female driver was in a passenger car, and she was southbound on Highway 27 but had crossed into the northbound lane of traffic, when she hit a pick-up truck that was heading north. The woman was airlifted with unknown injuries, while the male pickup driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is continuing to investigate. The sheriff’s office, along with Cornell Ambulance Service, Cornell Fire Department and Mayo One responded to the scene.
