GIBSONBURG, OH : Bicyclist killed in crash in Sandusky County on Sunday, 12th August 2018
A bicyclist was killed Sunday morning after running a stop stop and being hit by an SUV at a rural intersection in Sandusky County.The state Highway Patrol’s Fremont post is investigating the fatal crash, which occurred at 8:46 a.m.
Wayne Groweg, 74, of Gibsonburg, was driving a 2013 GMC Acadia south on County Road 32 as Mark Wladecki, 60, of Avon Lake, was riding a bicycle west on Township Road 55, troopers said. Wladecki failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection, where his bicycle was hit by the left front fender of the GMC Acadia.
Wladecki, who wearing a helmet, was ejected from his bicycle and died as a result of his injuries.
No charges or citations have been issued, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash, troopers said.
