WEST VALLEY CITY, UT : Auto-pedestrian crash leaves man in critical condition in West Valley City on Redwood Road near 3860 South on Saturday, 7th November, 2020

One man was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday night after he was struck by an SUV in West Valley City.

West Valley Police Lt. Shane Matheson said the collision happened about 7:40 p.m. on Redwood Road near 3860 South. The 56-year-old man was crossing the street and was not at a light or crosswalk when he was struck by a Toyota Venza, Matheson said.

When officers arrived on scene, the man was unconscious and barely breathing. Matheson said the man was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition Saturday night.

The driver of the Venza remained on scene and was cooperative, Matheson said. Police do not suspect that she was impaired or driving dangerously.

An accident investigation team is at the scene, Matheson said.
