Roseburg,OR : Roseburg motorcyclist killed in Highway 42 crash on July, Thursday 27th 2017

A Roseburg man died Thursday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle on Highway 42 near milepost 62 west of Winston.

Around 3:30 p.m., Tommy Sarratt, 69, was driving a 2003 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle west on the highway when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to the Oregon State Police. The motorcycle crossed the center lined where it collided with an eastbound 2015 Dodge Durango, driven by Jonathan Eastwood, 63, of Glide.

Sarratt was ejected from the motorcycle, which continued driving forward, coming to a rest partially in the westbound lane. Sarratt was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg with critical injuries, according to OSP. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Eastwood sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene by first responders.
