The driver of an SUV crashed into a fire hydrant and at least one utility pole in an unincorporated area near South Los Angeles this morning, triggering flooding in traffic lanes and toppling the pole, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident was reported at 154th Street and Avalon Boulevard at 2:18 a.m., according to the CHP.
The vehicle sustained major damage and the driver was transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where his condition was not immediately reported.
