Tallahassee, FL : Body found in alligator-filled pond day after car crash on Saturday, 13th August, 2016
A body was pulled from a retention pond Saturday afternoon, a day after a submerged car was removed from it, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
The body was found shortly before 3:45 p.m. in a pond near Canoe Creek Falls Drive in the Beacon Park subdivision in Meadow Woods, Orange County Deputy Sheriff Rose Silva said.
“It is believed to be related to yesterday's crash,” Silva said.A car plunged into the alligator-filled pond Friday afternoon after being involved in an altercation with someone in another vehicle, deputies said.
Investigators said the other motorist fled the neighborhood.
Witnesses who called Channel 9 after the crash reported seeing someone inside the vehicle when it plunged into the pond. One woman said she thought the driver of the car that ended up in the pond was being chased.
The Sheriff's Office dive team spent hours attempting to remove the submerged car from the pond Friday. Crews got the car out of the water before it was dark but no one was inside.
Neighbors said at least three alligators live in the pond.
