Las Vegas, NV : Man critically injured after crashing a motorcycle into a turning truck in the central Las Vegas Valley early Monday afternoon. March 23, 2015

A motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with critical injuries today after a crash with a pickup truck, Metro Police said.

The wreck happened about 12:30 p.m. on Decatur Boulevard near Charleston Boulevard, Metro Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The 1991 Chevrolet pickup was traveling sound on South Decatur Boulevard and attempted to make a left turn onto Cory Place in front of the Yamaha motorcycle. The Yamaha struck the rear passenger side of the Chevrolet. The motorcyclist separated from his bike and slid to a stop in the roadway.

The motorcyclist, 24, was taken to University Medical Center, Meltzer said. The occupant of the truck, 62, was not hurt, she said.

Northbound Decatur at Charleston was closed while police investigated the crash.
