Omaha,NE : 16-year-old who was killed after car rolls in Saunders County is identified on August, Sunday 20th 2017
A 16-year-old Nebraskan who was fatally injured in a crash Sunday afternoon was remembered Monday as a hard worker at school.
Nolan Thomas Beckenhauer of Ceresco was a passenger in a Honda Civic that crashed about 5:30 p.m. between Ashland and Ceresco. He was taken by medical helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he later was pronounced dead. He was a junior at Ashland-Greenwood High School, said Jason Libal, the school district’s superintendent.
The Civic’s driver, Conner David Buettner of Manley, also was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center. He was listed in good condition Monday afternoon.
Buettner is a junior at Louisville High School.
Both boys were using seat belts, officials said.
The crash occurred on County Road 8, a gravel road north of County Road A, said Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz. A witness said the car left the roadway, rolled twice on its sides, then rolled three times end over end, the sheriff said.
Beckenhauer was involved in golf, wrestling and cross-country at his school and enjoyed his industrial technology and woods classes, Libal said. “Nolan had a quick wit and was known to be a hard worker in the classroom,” he said.
Survivors include his parents, Kim and Paul Beckenhauer, and brothers Jacob, a 2016 graduate of Ashland-Greenwood, and Aiden, a seventh-grader at Ashland-Greenwood Middle School.
