Lee County, FL : Lee County deputy involved in crash at mile marker 145 near the Slater Road on Tuesday, 24th March, 2020
Two lanes of I-75 were closed for almost an hour Tuesday afternoon after a crash involving a Lee County Sheriff's Office deputy.
An investigation at mile marker 145 near the Slater Road overpass is underway by the Sheriff's Office. The deputy involved did not have injuries, a spokesman said.
Fort Myers Police Officers were checking on a suspicious vehicle in the 4800 block of Cleveland Avenue, when the car in question backed up at a high rate of speed almost striking the officers who were forced to jump out of the way, according to Fort Myers Police Public Information Officer Mitch Haley
The vehicle caused property damage at Howard Johnsons then fled. Lee County Sheriff's Office was able to stop the vehicle and one person is in custody, Haley said.
