Sunbury, PA : Mount Pleasant Mills man injured in a two-vehicle crash in Union County Friday night, October 21, 2016

A Mount Pleasant Mills man suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Union County.

Jared L. Brandt, 25, was flown by Life Flight helicopter from the scene at Col. John Kelly and Fort Titzell roads in Kelly Township to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was in critical condition Saturday afternoon, according to a hospital nursing supervisor.

According to a public information report from Trooper Maxwell Andres of state police at Milton, Brandt was driving a Saturn, no model listed, south on Fort Titzell Road about 9:15 p.m. when he drove onto Col. John Kelly Road and into the oncoming path of a 2011 Nissan Titan driven by Adam L. Umbel, 36, of Mifflinburg.

Andres said Brandt, who was wearing a seat belt, did not stop at a stop sign.

Brandt was extricated from the vehicle according to Stephen Bolinsky, deputy chief of William Cameron Engine Co.

Umbel escaped injury, as did passenger Jeri Pfleegor, 33, of Mifflinburg, and two children — a 6-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy. The adults were wearing seat belts and the children were properly restrained, police said.
