PAWTUCKET, RI : Car crashes into Webster Bank in Pawtucket on Sunday, 26th May 2019

A car drove into Webster Bank on Newport Avenue in Pawtucket Saturday afternoon, police confirmed to Eyewitness News.

It happened around 2 p.m. The bank branch was closed at the time.

A battalion chief at the Pawtucket Fire Department told Eyewitness News, fire crews responded to the scene but were not needed. He said the occupants of the vehicle had run away from the scene.

There's no word on what caused the crash or if any arrests were made.

The building was left with significant damage to the exterior. There's now a large hole in a brick wall where the car went through.
