WOLF CREEK TOWNSHIP, PA : An Armstrong County man was seriously injured in a crash on Thursday, August 3, 2017

An Armstrong County man was seriously injured in a crash at about 4 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 80 eastbound in Wolf Creek Township, state police said.

Police said John D. Snyder, 65, of Parker was trapped in his pickup after it rear-ended a stopped semi driven by Michael Silvis, 36. The semi hauling steel I-beams was stopped in traffic from an earlier accident, police said, adding Snyder failed to notice the tractor-trailer wasn’t moving.

Emergency personnel freed Snyder from the wreckage and he was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with serious injuries, according to a police report. Silvis was uninjured, police said.

Assisting at the scene were crews from Pine Township Engine Company, Clintonville and Springfield fire departments and Superior Ambulance.
