Sparta, MO : 36-year-old man dies when bicycle struck by vehicle in southwest Missouri on Sunday evening, Oct 11, 2015

A 36-year-old man has died after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle in southwest Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred Sunday evening about one mile east of Sparta.

The patrol says Joseph Loomis, of Sparta, was thrown off his bicycle after the bike was hit from behind by a car. Loomis was taken to a Springfield hospital where he died.
