Richmond County, GA :Wreck on I-20 involving 2 tractor trailers and a fire kills one person on Wednesday, July 15th 2015
One person died Wednesday in a tractor-trailer wreck on eastbound Interstate 20 at the Bobby Jones Interchange.According to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen, a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound ran into the back of another 18-wheeler stopped because of traffic. After hitting the tractor-trailer, the truck then struck a cement rail and caught fire. The driver was killed.The victim was burned beyond recognition, Bowen stated, and the body has been sent to the GBI Atlanta Lab for an autopsy. The driver was pronounced dead at 3:50 p.m.According to Augusta Fire Department spokeswoman Dee Griffin, the 18-wheeler that caught fire was carrying large rolls of paper. The fire was put out by 5 p.m.
