1 dead in 4-vehicle crash in whiteout conditions
One person is dead and others are injured after a four-vehicle crash in on M-52 in Sharon Township due to white out conditions.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Geoffrey Fox said the crash was reported about 8:30 a.m. Thursday on M-52 near Bethel Church Road. Fox said the crash involved three vehicles and a semi truck.
One of the drivers died at the scene of the crash, Fox said. One of the other injured individuals was a pregnant woman, he said.
Fox said drivers in the area were experiencing white out conditions due to wind-blown snow moving across the roadway. Details on what caused the crash were not immediately available.
M-52 was closed between Bethel Church Road and Pleasant Lake Road at 9 a.m. Thursday and was expected to stay that way for a few more hours.
Huron Valley Ambulance and local firefighters were on scene, Fox said.
More information on the crash is expected to be available later on Thursday. No information was available about the deceased driver because family notification was still pending Thursday morning.
