Cocoa West, FL : Jogger struck, killed in hit-and-run crash in Brevard County on Monday morning, February 15, 2016

Florida Highway Patrol is trying to track down the driver responsible for hitting and killing a jogger on a rural Brevard County road Monday morning.

The man was killed on Satellite Boulevard near Dean Drive, just north of State Road 520.

Investigators say Jason Rodeghier, 39, was out on a morning jog sometime around 4:30 a.m.

"His girlfriend said he went out on his morning run, and never came back," said Sgt. Kim Montes with FHP.

That's when the vehicle struck him then took off. Troopers say pieces of a vehicle were left behind.

"I'd hate to be the person that did that, and left. You got to live with that the rest of your life. I mean, even if you get away with it," said Jim Reynolds, who lives nearby.

"We don't know, if this person had received immediate care, what his outcome could be," said Montes.

Troopers add leaving the scene of an accident carries a minimum of four years -- and up to 30 years -- behind bars.

Troopers say the vehicle appears to be a grey Chrysler. It should have front end damage, including possible damage to the headlight and turn signal.
