A person was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle in east Charlotte Thursday evening, according to officials.
The wreck happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of Eastway Drive, near Michigan Avenue. Police said one person was pronounced deceased at the scene. Firefighters confirmed the accident involved a motorcycle, but did not give further details.
The victim's name has not been released.
Officers said Eastway Drive would be closed "for some time" between Shamrock Drive and Sugar Creek Road.
Police have not said what may have led to the crash or given any details about the vehicle that left the scene.
