Richmond County, NC : Two women died in a head-on collision on the U.S. 74 bypass early Thursday night, January 21, 2016

Two drivers were killed in a crash near Hamlet Thursday, officials say.

Belva Farnam Maddox, 77 of Charlotte, and Angela Monday Fisher, 55 of Currie, were killed in the wreck, officials say. The accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. on U.S. 74.

According to a preliminary investigation, Maddox was traveling east when she collided with Fisher head-on.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
