Two women died after a wrong-way driver on a Houston interstate slammed into the car in which they were riding.

Houston police say tell the Houston Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1xUipjx ) that the crash happened early Monday morning on Interstate 610.

Police say a driver traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes smashed into a Chevrolet Cobalt with three people inside. Two women passengers inside the Cobalt died. The driver of the Cobalt was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The wrong-way driver was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
