DAYTONA BEACH, FL: 1 dead, 2 injured in Daytona Beach crash on Tuesday 23rd October 2018

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash in Daytona Beach, according to police.

Officers responded early Monday to a single-vehicle crash on South Beach Street.

According to police, the driver of a Pontiac was heading north on South Beach Street at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control, left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The collision caused the vehicle to go airborne, according to police.

Three men were found inside the vehicle. They have been identified as Alex Thomas, 23; Marquise Jenkins, 25; and Danquelle Nash, 23. Thomas died at the scene. The other two men were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in critical condition.
