Kosciusko , MS :Kosciusko man killed after being struck by vehicle on Saturday , June 27th 2015

The Attala County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Kosciusko man, who was struck by a vehicle Saturday.Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail said his department received the call around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.Nail said 23-year-old Earl Barksdale Jr. was hit on Black Jack Road in Kosciusko, by a vehicle driven by Nicholas Steen of Attala County.Nail said Steen left the scene, but called 911 and returned.The sheriff said a search warrant for Steen's blood was obtained, for the purpose of toxicology testing. We were told Steen was detained and questioned about the incident, and was later released.Authorities said Barksdale was transported to Baptist Medical Center-Attala in Kosciusko, where he died.Nail told us the Mississippi Highway Patrol will be reconstructing the scene of the deadly accident.We were told Barksdale's body will be taken to Jackson for an autopsy to be performed.Nail said the incident is an ongoing investigation and charges are pending a toxicology report.
