MANATEE COUNTY, FL : Driver dies in University Parkway crash on Sunday, 19th August 2018

A driver was killed Sunday morning in a single-car crash on University Parkway, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the FHP, Brian Saunders, 44, of Bradenton was driving a Buick Terraza minivan west on University Parkway in the left lane approaching Shade Avenue.

For unknown reasons, the Buick traveled over the curb onto the grass median and down an embankment, where it struck a tree and began to rotate. The vehicle traveled back into the westbound lanes before coming to rest.

Saunders, who was wearing a seat belt, was fatally injured.

No further information has been released.
