A mother and her two young children suffered minor injuries in the crash that occurred in Vigo County this morning. Katrina Smith and her two sons, Brody Dalle Ave,4, and Brayden Dalle Ave,5, were treated for injuries suffered as a result of the accident.
Indiana State Police and Vigo County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Greencastle Road and Kyle Avenue in the northeastern part of Vigo County, just before 8 a.m.
According to the accident report, the preliminary investigation indicates a white 1996 Ford truck, driven by Jason Smith, 38, of Clinton, was eastbound on Kyle Avenue approaching Greencastle Road. Jason Smith failed to completely stop for a stop sign at Greencastle Road and struck a northbound black 2009 Saturn in the rear driver’s side area, ISP Sgt. Joe Watts stated.
The Saturn was driven by Katrina Smith, 25, of Terre Haute.
Katrina Smith and her sons, Brody and Brayden were all three transported to Union Hospital. Katrina Smith was treated for back and leg pain and the boys for minor lacerations from flying glass and underwent routine medical exams. Watts noted Brody and Brayden were restrained in child restraint devices which significantly reduced their injuries and quite possibly saved their lives.
