WATERLOO, IA : Crash shuts down part of Highway 218 in Waterloo on Saturday, 1st June 2024

Waterloo Police shut down part of Highway 218 on Saturday night because of a crash.

The crash is in the northbound lanes between Mitchell Avenue and San Marnan Drive. Officers shut down the road ahead of the crash and are diverting drivers off the northbound lanes at San Marnan Drive.

Several drivers who were marshaled off Highway 218 have to take La Porte Road down to Mitchell Avenue to get back on.

Crews have also shut down one southbound lane of 218, but traffic on that side of the road is still about to get through.

We don't have many details about the crash, and it is unclear if there are any injuries.

Multiple fire trucks, an ambulance and several Waterloo Police cruisers were on scene along Highway 218 on Saturday evening.
