Easton police on Monday identified an 18-year-old city woman as the driver of a car involved in a three-vehicle crash last week on Lehigh Drive that killed a Bethlehem-area woman.

In a news release, police said Mazell Truss, 18, of the 1000 block of Lehigh Street, was driving west when she hit two eastbound cars Friday morning.

Audrey Rafferty, 64, of Hanover Township, Northampton County, was driving one of the eastbound cars and was killed in the crash.

Police Capt. David Beitler said investigators are obtaining medical records and blood-test results, and plan to inspect the vehicles involved. Beitler said he does not expect charges until after that investigation is complete, which could take two weeks.

About 11:40 a.m. Friday, there was also a minor crash involving two vehicles near the Wawa on Larry Holmes Drive, police said. A woman involved in that crash allegedly fled the scene, onto Lehigh Drive at high speed, witnesses told police. The fleeing driver appeared to lose control of her gray Chrysler Sebring and it collided with two vehicles in the eastbound lane, before landing on its roof, police said. In the news release Monday, police said Truss was driving a Chrysler Sebring.
