INDIANAPOLIS, IN : One dead in motorcycle crash on Wednesday, August 9, 2017

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police confirm that a motorcyclist has died after a crash on the city's northwest side.

The crash happened just before midnight Wednesday night on Kessler Boulevard West Drive near Michigan Road.

Police say that an officer saw the motorcyclist run a red light at the intersection of Guion Road.

As the officer turned his lights and siren on, the motorcycle sped off.

Police say that a second officer began to pursue the motorcycle, but the pursuit was stopped due to the high speeds of the motorcycle.

They believe the motorcycle was going at least 100 miles per hour.

The motorcycle crashed into a guardrail at a curve on Kessler.

The crash happened in front of an Indianapolis Fire Station.

Firefighters are paramedics heard the crash and were able to get to the rider almost immediately.

He was taken to Methodist Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
