SOUTH BEND, IN : 1 dead after South Bend car crash on Thursday, 29th August 2024

A woman has been arrested and charged after a man was killed in a crash on Thursday night on South Bend’s east side.

35-year-old Jatonya Pringle has been charged with causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and reckless homicide using a vehicle, according to MyCase.

The crash happened around 7:35 p.m. at the intersection of Ironwood Drive and Jefferson Boulevard.

According to investigators, Pringle was heading east on Jefferson at a high rate of speed when she failed to stop for a red light and hit a vehicle that was traveling north on Ironwood through the intersection. The impact of the crash caused the second vehicle to roll and hit a tree.
