DAVENPORT, IA : Driver dies from car accident injuries on Monday, February 13th 2017

Ruth Hitchcock, 93, of Bettendorf, died Monday morning from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision that occurred last Friday and injured John Morgan, 38, of Davenport.

The two were taken to Genesis Medical Center on East Rusholme Street for treatment of serious injuries after the accident.

According to a Davenport police news release, Mr. Morgan was driving westbound in a Dodge truck when he passed the center line in the area of Locust Street and Jersey Ridge overpass. He struck Ms. Hitchcock's car as she was heading eastbound.

Mr. Morgan was cited for driving left of the center, control of vehicle, driving under suspension and no insurance.

Davenport Police Lieutenant Shawn Voigts said the investigation is ongoing and investigating what caused Mr. Morgan to cross the center line.

The investigation is being conducted by the Traffic Safety Unit of the Davenport Police Department.
