His family members told Channel 9's Roy Ramos that Perez was on his way to spend Christmas with his mother. Surveillance video shot from a home near the intersection captured the faint image of Perez starting across the busy road around 8 p.m. The sound of a loud thump is heard, followed by tires screeching as cars slam on their brakes. The traffic is seen coming to a stop, but not before three drivers left the scene of the accident. "I just thought it was a buggy that got hit.
