A Winfield man was killed and a woman injured after the motorcycle they were on crashed into a cow near Dexter Saturday night.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol online crash log, Todd C. Gritzmaker, 46, was driving a 1997 Honda motorcycle headed northbound on K-15 when he hit a black cow standing in the road two miles north of Dexter just before 10 p.m. Saturday.
He lost control of the motorcycle and entered the west ditch, staying on the bike until it came to rest
Passenger Cassandra Gritzmaker, 48, was ejected from the motorcycle. Neither were wearing helmets, the report said.
Todd Gritzmaker was taken to William Newton Hospital, where next of kin were notified.
Cassandra Gritzmaker was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with unspecified injuries. She was listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesperson.
