Lynchburg, VA : Woman faces charges in Wards Ferry Road crash on Sunday, 14th August, 2016

Lynchburg police charged an 18-year-old woman with reckless driving and driving under the influence after she crashed a vehicle that destroyed two telephone poles Sunday.

The first call for the crash came in about 6 a.m. Sunday morning on the 1700 block of Wards Ferry Road.

Sgt. Joel Hinkley of the Lynchburg Police Department said that the accident caused by Megan Allcock resulted in approximately 90 residents within the area to lose power.

The road was closed from the time of the crash until around 4 p.m. Sunday, he said.
