Redlands, CA : 22-year-old man died in early Saturday after car crash on July 26th 2014.

A Redlands man died early Saturday after his car overturned on a transition road connecting the 15 Freeway to the 91 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The 22-year-old man died at the scene but was not identified pending notification of next of kin, a sergeant with the Riverside office of the CHP said.

The crash occurred about 3:25 a.m. as the man was driving a Honda on the transition road from the eastbound 15 to the northbound 91, the CHP said.

As the victim was driving on the curved road, he lost control of the car which overturned and collided with an Acura traveling east on the 91 at 60 to 70 mph, authorities said.

The Honda came to rest on the eastbound 91, the CHP said.

The man was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car.

Rescue personnel where called but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported.

The driver of the Acura, David Gutierrez, 23, of Riverside, suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP said.
