WABASH COUNTY, IL : A one vehicle crash on Highway 1 South on May, Wednesday, 10th 2017

The Wabash County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle crash on Highway 1 South on Wednesday at approximately 6:21 p.m.

During the crash investigation it was discovered that Jacob Knight, 23, of Grayville was north bound on Highway 1, just 2 miles east of E. 400 Road, when he ran off the roadway to the right, a press release stated.

Reports indicate that Knight swerved back onto the roadway while over-correcting, thus losing control of his 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. Knight ran back off the roadway to the right striking the ditch and rolling over twice, bouncing into the air and striking a tree before coming to rest.

Knight was transported to Wabash General Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to a trauma center by air ambulance due to his injuries.

No citations were issued. The Wabash County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Wabash General Ambulance Service and the Bellmont Fire Department.
