WALTON, OR : Eugene woman dies in Hwy 126W crash, driver sustains serious injuries on Thursday, August 24, 2017
A Eugene woman pulled from the wreckage of a car died at the scene after a crash in Lane County, Oregon State Police said.
Around noon Thursday, troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 126W near milepost 23 between Walton and Mapleton.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Toyota Camry, driven by 40-year-old Brandon Lynn, was westbound on Hwy 126W and, for an unknown reason, drifted off the roadway.
Police say it continued down an embankment where it struck a tree.
The driver was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend Springfield with serious injuries.
The passenger, 35-year-old Tina Lynn, was extricated from the car and pronounced dead on scene by emergency personnel, the report said.
Police said the couple are from Yuba City, California, but have been living in the Eugene area for the last few months.
OSP was assisted by Central Lane Fire, Western Lane Ambulance, Siuslaw Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation
