Jacsonville ,OR : 15-year-old girl miraculously uninjured after her car rolled onto its roof on Friday ,June 5th 2015

A 15-year-old girl miraculously went uninjured when the car she was in rolled onto its roof, lodging her head beneath the car.

The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of Griffin Lane in Jackson County. Deputies say three teen girls left school early to go swimming when the 16-year-old driver, who had her driver's license for only 4 months, drove too fast on a gravel road.

Just before the crash, the car's front seat passenger removed her seat belt to reach for a phone on the ground. The car then rolled over, settled on its roof, and the 15-year-old passenger's head went through the open moon roof, settling over a small depression in the ground.

Her head was lodged under the car for over an hour as rescue crews worked to save her.

Deputies say had it not been for that small depression in the ground, the teen likely would have died.

She was hospitalized for observation; the driver and the back seat passenger were not injured.

The 16-year-old driver was cited for careless driving and driving without privileges.
