A 79-year-old Black Lick woman died after a head-on collision in Burrell Thursday afternoon, according to the Indiana County coroner.
The crash occurred on Old William Penn Highway at Strangford Road at about 4:40 p.m., according to state police in Indiana.
Clara Mae Santus was pronounced dead at Indiana Regional Medical Center in White at 5:55 p.m.
Larry Plovetsky, 41, of Black Lick, was driving a GMC sport utility vehicle west on the highway when he tried to turn left onto Strangford Road, crossing the path of the Hyundai Elantra driven by Santus, according to police.
An investigation is continuing.
Plovetsky's condition was not known as of Thursday night.
The victim's autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
Responding were Blairsville and Black Lick volunteer fire departments and Citizen's Ambulance Service.
