North Platte, NE : Tuesday wrecks leave occupants without injuries on Tuesday, August 1, 2017
A pregnant woman and an elderly woman each walked away from separate Tuesday car wrecks uninjured.
About 12:20 p.m., North Platte Fire and Rescue was called to Newberry Access near the South Platte River, where a two-car accident involving a pregnant woman was reported.
There, a southbound Dodge Intrepid crossed the center line, striking a northbound Ford Edge, said North Platte Police Lt. Rich Hoaglund.
Hoaglund said an occupant who was pregnant was checked out by emergency medical services on scene, and was likely referred to her primary physician. He was unsure if seat belts were in use, but said police were investigating the possibility of driver distraction. Police did not believe alcohol was a factor.
Both cars were towed from the scene.
About 6:20 p.m., another two-car accident was reported near Burlington Boulevard and Welch Avenue. A southbound white Buick hit another southbound black Dodge pickup there, said Investigator Roger Freeze.
The driver of the Buick, age 76, told police she fell asleep at the wheel, Freeze said. She was evaluated by emergency medical services and released. The Buick was considered totaled. The pickup drove away; its driver reported no injuries, Freeze said.
