COLUMBIA, SC : 18-year-old charged in connection with deadly pedestrian crash on Monday, 1st July 2024

An 18-year-old woman was charged in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian in June, according to the Columbia Police Department (CPD).

Madeline C. Kuester was charged with reckless homicide after turning herself in on Monday.

The crash happened at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at the 1900 block of Rosewood Drive.

Police said Kuester allegedly drove 88 miles per hour along a road with a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour and struck a pedestrian. CPD said the victim traveled 250 feet after being hit by the car.
