A deadly crash prompted road closures Thursday afternoon on State Road 528, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 25-year-old Orlando woman driving in the eastbound lanes of State Road 528 lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the center grass median and struck a lawnmower near mile marker 24 shortly after 2 p.m.

The man driving the lawnmower, 46-year-old Jose Morales, was pronounced dead on the scene, troopers said.

All eastbound lanes of State Road 528 were shut down while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.

One lane was reopened shortly before 5 p.m., but traffic remains backed up for several miles.
