NASHVILLE, TN : A man was killed and two others were injured in a crash on Tuesday, July 4, 2017

A man was killed and two others were injured in a crash on Interstate 65 in north Nashville late Tuesday night.

The car ran off the road and into into the woods, hitting multiple trees before overturning into an embankment at the exit for Dickerson Pike and Briley Parkway.

The driver, 25-year-old Chowan Chhay, was taken to Skyline Medical Center, where he later died.

Two of his passengers were injured in the crash. Teandre Fisher, 26, is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Tanesha Miller, 25, had non-critical injuries.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Chhay passed a police officer "at a high rate of speed" shortly before the crash. The officer reportedly turned on his blue lights but turned them off when he realized Chhay was not going to slow down.

Police are working to determine if Chhay had been using drugs or alcohol prior to the wreck.
