Monona, IA : Dozens of students on board school bus involved in crash on U.S. Highway 18 and Falcon Avenue on Tuesday, February 3, 2015

53 students with the MFL MarMac School District were on a bus, along with the driver and one monitor, when it was involved in a crash.

Emergency crews were sent to U.S. Highway 18 and Falcon Avenue at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday. Clayton County Chief Deputy Michael Aschinger said a pickup truck was leaving the Kwik Star Parking lot on Falcon Avenue, when it pulled in front of the school bus going westbound on 18. A juvenile driving the pickup was cited for failure to yield.

Only one child on the bus was transported to Crossing Rivers Health for further examination. Damage to the bus was minimal, while the pickup was left disabled by the impact.

Aschinger cautioned drivers to be extra careful when crossing through highways, especially during poor weather or low visibility.
