Victoria, TX : Man sent to hospital after auto-ped wreck on Friday, November, 24th 2017

The man who was struck by a vehicle Friday night is doing well and in stable condition, a Citizens Medical Center nurse said.

Denis Benitez, 32, was crossing the the street in the 3800 block of Houston Highway where an eastbound Ford pickup, driven by 21-year-old Garrett Ramirez, struck him.

Benitez was rushed to Citizens Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, said Sgt. Lee Lemmons, with the Victoria Police Department.

Ramirez said he did not see the man crossing the street, said Sgt. Adam Nieto. He said Benitez was conscious and breathing at the scene. Benitez was in a private room and in good condition as of Saturday evening.

The hometown of Benitez was not available Saturday.
