Wasilla, AK : 66-year-old woman died in rollover crash on Point MacKenzie Road on Friday morning, April 22, 2016

A 66-year-old Wasilla woman died after she was ejected in a single-vehicle rollover Friday morning on Point MacKenzie Road in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, troopers said.

Lynette Durmbarger's next of kin have been notified, troopers said in a dispatch Friday afternoon.

"Investigation revealed (Durmbarger) was driving a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee around a left-hand curve when she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled," troopers wrote. "Initial investigation has determined a seat belt was not being worn."

Ken Barkley, director of fire and rescue at Mat-Su Emergency Services, said the crash at Mile 3 of the road was first reported at about 7:30 a.m. Only Durmbarger was inside the SUV at the time; troopers said she was "unresponsive" when she was found.

“We had responders on location within just a few minutes,” Barkley said.

Barkley said crews arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on Durmbarger. Medics took over, with a LifeMed air ambulance dispatched and continuous CPR in progress for nearly an hour before she was declared dead at the scene at about 8:30 a.m.

The crash remained under investigation.
