Clemson,SC : Upstate man charged after striking 3 pedestrians on may, sunday 7th 2017
Clemson Police say a suspect has been charged for his involvement in a hit and run Sunday morning.
Police say at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers responded to a hit and run that occurred on College Avenue between Keith Street and Edgewood Avenue. Officer say three victims were struck be a late model black or gray Ford F150.
The person of interest in the vehicle then fled the scene.
Officers were able to use street cameras to get a photo of the pickup truck and person of interest and posted the information as well as the photos on the department's Facebook page. Police say the suspect noticed his picture on Facebook and came to the police to turn himself in later Sunday.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old John Wilson Thompson of Seneca. He was charged with the following:
Hit and Run with Bodily Injury
Two counts of Hit and Run With Great Bodily Injury
Thompson is being held at the Clemson City Jail awaiting a bond hearing. He is not a Clemson University student.
Officers say the three victims were taken to the hospital and two have since been released. The third remains in the hospital in critical condition, police say.
