Chapmanville, WV : Student in fatal crash on Wednesday September 28 2016

A student at Chapmanville Regional High School (CRHS) suffered fatal injuries from a car accident near Chapmanville September 28.

The juvenile female was reportedly travelling to school when the incident occurred.

Grief counselors will be available to students and staff at CRHS.

President of the Logan County Board of Education Paul Hardesty commented, “CRHS and Logan County Schools has suffered a great loss today of one our precious students. We will have grief counselors at the school tomorrow. We need the entire county to lift up this family and school with prayer during this difficult time.”

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department released the following statement concerning the crash:

On Wednesday, September 28, at approximately 7:10 a.m., Corporal. M. B. Carter, of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, responded to a 911 call for a two car motor vehicle crash on WV Rt. 10 at the intersection of Limestone Road near Chapmanvillle.

Upon arrival, it was found that a red Chevy Cobalt driven by a female juvenile had pulled out onto WV Rt 10 from Limestone Road into the path of another vehicle driven by Ricky Conley, of Chapmanville.

The vehicle driven by Conley is described as a white Ford F-350. Mr. Conley was not injured during the crash. However, the driver and passenger of the Chevy Cobalt was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver was then transported by Air Evac to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington where she later died from her injuries.

The passenger in the Chevy Cobalt received minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
